Brake Booster Mounting Question
Okay, so I have a 1971 c10, it apparently use to have a brake booster but now it doesn't. When I got the truck, it just had a master cylinder mounted and hooked up. I have an aftermarket smaller I'm guessing it's a 10" booster. When they got rid of the original booster, they also ditched the bracket so now I don't have that. Would it be okay to mount this booster flush to the firewall without the bracket as long adjust the rod properly? I can take a post pictures is need of what I'm working with.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks- David |
Re: Brake Booster Mounting Question
Sure if you have the ability to make the booster a flush mount type thing lots of people would like to have that done to their truck to make it more appealing. Some want it the factory way of course. I have a mixture of both some of mine will be flush mounted with a booster some will have the factory mount that sticks out to the core support [almost] and the other will have hydro boost. The only thing you need to worry about the the proper
length stroke for the rod on the pedal travel. Jim PS. welcome to the board hope you enjoy the site, you will find lots of help on here. |
Re: Brake Booster Mounting Question
Captain Fab is a vendor here on the board--makes a great mount. Do a search for him and see if his bracket will do the trick.

Re: Brake Booster Mounting Question
Okay cool, thanks Jim. I was sure it would work fine, with some adjustments. I just needed another opinion from someone else who has seen it done before. I think I would prefer the slicker look of having it flush mount anyhow. I'm not worried about it being anywhere near factory looking. I'll post a picture of it when I get it mounted up. Lou Baffa, if ai run into any trouble and decide to use a bracket I'll look him up. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for the help guys! |

Re: Brake Booster Mounting Question
Hey guys, I spent several hours out in the garage working on the brake booster project today. Well I pretty much have it mounted up flush to the firewall now and it has been a pain to say the least. BTW here is the truck I have been working on. It's a 1971 SWB Stepside with a 350 and 4 speed Saginaw out of a camaro.
