1977 Bonanza 20, need help.

I just sold my ford f-350 diesel for 8k and bought a mint chevy bonanza for 4k. On the fender it says "Bonanza 20" How do I look up parts? Do I have a C-10, C-20....1/2 ton, 3/4 ton?? It has 8 leaf springs, but 5 wheel lugs. I have an 8 ft. bed. This truck has 79k original miles. It was a barn find....really. What class is this truck??!!! Or what other model is it identical to?? Can someone answer these questions? I have not owned a chevy since the early 90's. It's good to be back!!

ps. I punched in the vin #, and it shows 1/2 ton, but 8 leaf springs?? Anyway thanks for all help.

The Bonanza's were kind of the mutt of the chevy truck world.
They were end of year sales that had all sorts of mix matched options and made for some really unique trucks.

20 series is a 3/4 ton truck. Bonanza was an optioned Scottsdale truck. See the post below: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=220643

Thanks, that also makes sense. When I first saw it, I thought "Bonanza" ???? But okay I guess. I never heard of them. It drives and handles great. What model is it most related to, Scottsdale? Cheyenne?

Okay, but what does not make sense is, matching up the vin # shows i have a 1/2 ton. But on the fender it says Bonanza 20. The post from Liberty says I have a C-20 1/2 ton.

I do have 8 leaf springs, but 5 wheel lugs. Oh well, I think I have a 1/2 ton. I'm going by the vin.

If im not mistaken, with the 8 leaf springs, may be a " Big 10" optioned truck. Heavier suspension but still classified as half ton.

Re: 1977 Bonanza 20, need help.

The C-20 is normally a 3/4 Ton.

C10 = 1/2 Ton
C20 = 3/4 Ton
C30 = 1 Ton

GM used nameplate number to designate type and size.
IE a Silverado 10 is a C10 with the Silverado package.

Yours could be a heavy 1/2 ton like the previous poster said.
Like I said, The Bonanza's are always a cool mix and match!
Edit: I brain farted on the numbers!

???????????
C/K10 = 1/2 ton
C/K20 = 3/4 ton
C/K30 = 1 ton.

LOL it happens.
O/P, Decode VIN for more info.

The instant I hit post and saw C30 as 3/4 ton it clicked and I thought "Man that Sounds funny, I wonder what the 1 ton number is.... OH!"

Found this on an old post, I have a "1" on that 4th digit. So, it is what it is. I guess.
