Chalet on craigslist
Thought you blazer guys would like this:

Re: Chalet on craigslist
Chalet #1203, built in 10/76. Has appeared in occasional listings going back to last November, but the seller oddly never bothered to include photos with those listings. Not a bad price at $3 grand, but I wouldn't go higher, and it would be a very good idea to check under the cab carpet and elsewhere for rust. It's always a killer and sometimes the truck just can't be saved ...

Re: Chalet on craigslist
One more in a Denver suburb that is just an orphaned camper unit. The seller tells me it is #0598, built in 8/76.

Re: Chalet on craigslist
That Chalet was mine a few years back...#0251 it had low miles and original paint. We did the 8 lug swap and a 8" lift with 12" rear lift...When I first got it stock I drove it to my shop...scariest ride I've ever had in a truck...felt ready to roll at any time...so up n out it went....DROVE GREAT!!! It's on 38's with 18x12 rims....we sold it to a guy from Ghetto Choppers in Ca. he flew 2 guys out n they drove it all the way back!!! The Chalet got 100 miles to the tankfull...so 30 tanks later!!! It drew more attention than most motorhomes!!!

Re: Chalet on craigslist
I've always wondered how those handle. Nice work on the chalet. The paint looks fresh, is that still the original paint in the pic above?
|
Re: Chalet on craigslist
All original...I spent a lot of time rubbing to get it to look like that! It did have some small issues on the fenderwells... not bad but there....I paid $1200.00 for it as it sat in the pic I had over 20k in it...I went overboard but that was when the economy was real good n money was easier to come by!!! I tried to copy the cartoon image on the blazer-chalet site!

However, all '76s of these campers in either the Chevy or GMC version were painted in that beige & burnt orange color combo, or a slightly different variation having maroon metallic body side accents. I did a photo composite of those variations here. |
Re: Chalet on craigslist
I wanted to buy Pro Trucks Chalet for years but life kept giving me lemons. All that unit needed was a nice LS engine...4L80e with a NP241C and it would have been the cats ass!
An orphan in Denver? I see the add is now gone. DW |

Meanwhile, 'other Doug' at the Chalet forum has unexpectedly put his Chalet #1425 up for sale just this evening, at what might be a fairly low price: http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/4983827302.html http://images.craigslist.org/00M0M_a...CA_600x450.jpg |

Now I know why I was always hungery as a kid, always late for dinner!
Thanks, I did miss it. Paul |
Re: Chalet on craigslist
No worries, we all do that. No matter what, I still appreciate any and all spottings of Chalets and Casa Grandes since my own search links let me down more often than not, and I do miss seeing ad listings and other sightings. It's fabulous to have lots of eyes out there looking on my behalf.
