American Racing VF490 20's Questions
1 Attachment(s)
It has been a long time coming. I have gone back and forth between wanting 15's 17's 20's, but I have finally decided to purchase some new wheels for the truck in 20's.
The wheels I am going to pick up are the American Racing VF490 wheels, I love the deep dish on them. But here is where I run into issues.... I have never purchased a set on wheels before in my life. So what I need help with is the following..... Truck has a 2.5/4" drop I want 20x8.5 up front and 20x10 in the rear. So bolt pattern is 5x5 Next question and the one that seems to be most asked is backspacing. I want the rim and tire to set inside the wheel well, I like the way N2TRX rims fit his truck. So what back spacing do I get? Next question I would need a set of tires to go with the wheels any recommendations here? I would still like a thicker tire, no low profile As always the help is appreciated |
Re: American Racing VF490 20's Questions
I've been looking at quite a few wheels myself, and the one thing I've been finding is problems with the size of the center bore of 20's, 18's and many 17's even. I know on my '87, you need a center bore of at least 3.125". Also, if you have the heavy duty brake option, that could complicate it more because of the depth of the hub itself, fitting in the center cap.
Just something to be aware of, especially on custom built wheels... Jerry |
Re: American Racing VF490 20's Questions
20x8.5 w/5.25"bs & 255/40-20 front.
20x10 w/5"bs rear is centered; 5.5"bss tucks in more but gets closer to the inner tub wall & 295/40-20 rears. Kens truck has 9.5's on the rear. |

Re: American Racing VF490 20's Questions
With a 2.5/4 drop they won't be tucking. You know that right?
