LS Oil Pan Gasket
I need to replace the oil pan and gasket
Are there better gaskets, or they all from the same supplier? Is one better than the other? Are all LS pan gaskets the same dimensions, will a 5.3 and a 6.2 and a 4.8 all the same part number? Any "tricks" to replacing a oil pan on a LS engine? |
Re: LS Oil Pan Gasket
I bought the GMPP LS swap pan and it came with the gasket riveted on if I remember right. When you do reinstall the pan make sure the back of the pan is flush with the back of the block. There are instructions floating around here somewhere on the forum.
I can't 100% answer your question about size, but I am almost certain all will interchange with one another. |
Re: LS Oil Pan Gasket
Thanks,
More research shows that they fit many different years and cars! Ordered the parts from the local Chevy dealer! |
Re: LS Oil Pan Gasket
Use your bell housing , to line up the pan front to rear ;) Longhorn

Re: LS Oil Pan Gasket
O K, I changed the pan to a Camaro and the iron block does not have the center side bolt holed drilled in the block, what are you folks doing with that?

Don't worry about it, A lot of pans don't even have that hole. What Camaro pan are you using? 4th gen Camaro pans don't have that hole, 5th gen does. |
Re: LS Oil Pan Gasket
The pan is from a 6.2 crate engine
It is either that one or the next one to the front, I will look closer today I looked at the old gasket and there was a smear of grey silicone at all four corners so I added a bit, very little now to find a inch Lb torque wrench Thanks |
