replacing cab

I have a 1982 k20 chev pu 4x4. I recently purchased a c10 cab, can anyone tell me what kind of problems I mite run into when replacing the cab other than the hump in the middle. The one on the k20 has bolts holding it down, so I was going to cut out the floor on the c10 and replace it with the bolt down section from the k20. I was told that this would work. Thanks for any help.

Your pretty much spot on.. But the bigger issue is VIN placement which is different through out the years.

The c10 did not have ac, I was thinking I could cut that part of the firewall out on the k20 and weld it on the c10. Has anyone tried this. Thanks

Re: replacing cab

I have done that. I didn't weld it though, just a few sheet metal screws and seam sealer, The A/C box covered up the seam. I made a template of the A/C firewall and then made the Non A/C fire wall look like the other.

I have some pics in my 78 Big 10 thread

Re: replacing cab

I wouldn't cut and weld just cut Out the c10. Less welding the better.

Re: replacing cab

So are you saying just cut the k20 and place it over the c10 area and cut what I need to open those areas and the other openings will be covered by this part?

I welded in an a/c section of firewall on a non a/c truck. No problem if everything is removed for access.
