Starting my 1971 Super Cheyenne Build
5 Attachment(s)
I have bought and sold a few c10's and most recently shortened a longbox. Now its time for my truck. I picked up a 1971 Super Cheyenne in decent shape. It has a little rust in the cab corners and rockers but otherwise the metal is pretty good. I have been looking forward to working on my own truck.

In its day that woulda been a pretty one, with a big block too. Going original colors?

Re: Starting my 1971 Super Cheyenne Build
I was thinking about it but I am not a big fan of green. I think a dark grey and white.

never seen anyone build a wooden template for use in shortening a bed before, cool idea! since you are shortening your bedsides, you might want to find another long bedside to use the tail light frame for use in your bed. Mine has considerable slide hammer pulls from some earlier repair that the patch panel I got didn't include, and from what I have seen in all the searches I've done, no one make that part of a bedside, only the suburban tail light areas are being made. my bodyman says he's going to spend some time trying to "Massage" that area back to original, just a better idea to find a more pristine original patch now, than find out later.....

Re: Starting my 1971 Super Cheyenne Build
I agree, interesting jig to do the layout with, not a bad idea.
Also if you can find a replacent rear corner it may save a lot of time in the long run, i have seen them sold on Ebay i think for less than $50 but don't quote me. |
Re: Starting my 1971 Super Cheyenne Build
Thanks for the ideas guys. Always helpful to get some outside perspective. I'm a carpenter by trade that why I made the jig. This is the second truck I have cut down.
