Starting issues
I was wondering what I should look into I bought a 1971 c10 that has been sitting for a while put a battery in it and it turns over but it won't fire?! What should I look at to see why I have no spark?

Re: Starting issues
could be lack of fuel possibly or maybe bad timing was the distributor ever pulled out? or tweaked with

Re: Starting issues
Clean and set your points to get a spark to fire it up

Re: Starting issues
How do I check the timing of the distributor?

Re: Starting issues
basically your motor is turning and your intake and exhaust valves are opening and closing if the intake valve is off it means that the proper air and fuel mixture isn't happening so no ignition. the way I did it was off of youtube. I don't have a timing light. so this is what I did. pulled my distributor right out. put your finger in the number one spark plug hole and manually turn your engine until you feel air push out against your finger. That is top dead center. now you want to put your distributor back in with point faced at the number 1 spark plug. That worked for me. https://youtu.be/hsYDgNoUtBg check that link. I hope it helps you.

Re: Starting issues
Im borrowing a timing light but I'm not exactly sure how to use it?

Re: Starting issues
Get a can of B12 chemtool spray and shoot some in the carb. If the engine fires, you aren't getting gas.

Re: Starting issues
If you have no spark your points are probably stuck or the coil is dead. I would say replace points and condenser bet it will start then if your getting gas.
