AC Compressor Groan

The ac compressor on my '85 Burb is getting pretty loud, more so at idle. It blows cold but the groan is getting unbearable! Any ideas?

Good Morning, Most likely the bearings are bad, that would be my first thought.

God Bless, Terry

It would be a great idea to go ahead and get the compressor replaced before it locks up and comes apart internally sending trash through the system.

Thanks, I'll be looking into a new compressor and orifice tube. I will still have to check on the reason why the previous owner cut off and capped the rear ac lines. I have a feeling there's a leak back there somewhere that they didn't want to fix.

It could very well be because of a leak from the aluminum lines running from front to the rear. Had that experience with a 97 burb. Ihad to replace both lines front to back plus the rear evaporator.
