Blazer steps, original?

Just found this blazer on e-bay and it has what it seems like truck steps, were this factory?

Here's a couple of pics, don't mind the ugly roof rack and the big truck horns

OH MY GOSH!! I think I finally found a 69-72 blazer that I didn't at least like! That thing is a combo of too many schucks aftermarket parts and WAY too much carpet! That guy has the glovebox carpeted! AHHHH! Sorry but that thing is clean and FUGLY!!

I'm gonna say no on the "are the factory" question. I've never seen any before. I hope I don't see them on a blazer again.

Gee_Emm 08-29-2003 09:47 PM

Those steps are dealer added options on the pickups so those might be original or aftermarket.

NuBomb 08-29-2003 10:42 PM

I don't see much use for them except for reaching the very top to wash it. Did they offer roof racks to go on the hardtop? If so, then they would be useful.

Phillip Johnson 08-29-2003 11:23 PM

that looks like a taxi from south of the boarder

raggedjim 08-29-2003 11:40 PM

If he wanted an ugly truck he shoulda bought a Bronco...

BobbyK 08-30-2003 01:57 AM

The roof rack is a dealer installed option and is rare...seriously!

JayDubBlazer 08-30-2003 07:54 AM

please don't tell me that those horns are rare ha ha Looking at the back I sure some good times took place there. Buyer beware, you may find drug paraphernalia(yes I had to look up that word)

Gee_Emm 08-30-2003 09:44 AM

Whats that thing underneath the rear side marker right at the bottom? Looks like a courtesy light or something.

cheyenne10 08-30-2003 09:45 AM

blazer

Shagadelic!! Could it be saved or would it be worth it?

Some one spend a lot of hours on that baby a long time ago.

1970cstblazer 08-30-2003 11:24 AM

I like the mag slot wheels.

You don't see them often anymore.

BobbyK 08-31-2003 03:35 AM

Hey Dube,Those things your talking about almost look like vents of some sort.

I have never seen them before, but that's my best guess:p

Dammit,I should read these threads beter.

Dube,I think they are marker lights as well.

JayDubBlazer 08-31-2003 06:38 AM

I've seen those slot wheels on a couple of trucks now. Where they a GM option or popular aftermarket thing?

I think it could be saved!! Take off all that extra crap, rip out most of the interior ( seats look great), finish painting hood and windshield frame. With a little int. stuff boom you got a nice blazer ready to go.

Even though it wasn't factory and its hard to make these blazers look even better, I love the looks of a blazer with top moulding.

hmm, I wonder what his reserve is!!!

sameyrasmea72 09-01-2003 04:12 AM

sh*t, You would need a whole new hood, or are my eyes playing tricks on me?? It's kinda late or early.

oooh. Who noticed the am-fm? Did the seller say " he was in his late 70's" or " IT WAS THE LATE 70'S" when he stopped driving? It must have been a groovy time, course I was too young to remember!

chevy_fatman 09-01-2003 09:51 AM

Seller said that he stopped driving it in his late 70's, How many gas tanks did this guy need? it looks like he's got 2 gas caps on the drivers side and an extra one on the passenger side, mhhh?

Also does that badge on the front driver side say SS 350? can't really make out the first 2 letters on there.

cheyenne10 09-01-2003 11:21 AM

saveable

Guess your right it could be saved. Loose the hood, top, gut the interior (save seats), remove fender lip extensions, and who knows what else. I bet the carpet held in a lot of mositure. In one pic the paint scheme does resemble a late 70's bronco.

For the right price!!

MJN 09-01-2003 12:35 PM

are those fire extinguishers factory? Mine had one when I bought it. Just the bracket was there though.

chevy_fatman 09-01-2003 02:28 PM

I just parted a '70 shortbed and it also had that extinguisher, but it doesn't say anything about it in the option sheet, maybe aftermarket?

sameyrasmea72 09-01-2003 04:21 PM

The extinguisher was for when he or one of his passengers dropped a roach and huuuh forgot about it. lol

I had or I mean someone I know a 78 bronco and the paint scheme did look very close to that.

VTKidder 09-02-2003 09:46 AM

The plush carpet COVERING the interior was a very popular mod in the 70's. I think it looks like  though. Kinda funny to see how cool mods then, completely suck now. :D This truck is the 1969-1972 version of that kid you see driving around town in a Ranger, with absolutely every accessory you can get from your local Summit dealer; lighted visor, candlepin lights, light covers, bug deflector....the list goes on and on. You know the kid I'm talking about.

bouncytruck 09-02-2003 11:26 AM

Make it stop! What did he do to that poor defenseless Blazer. What happened to the hood. I think someone up-chucked bolt on accessories! That thing has got to weigh an extra 2,000 pounds!

bpmcgee 09-04-2003 11:12 AM

Did anyone else notice the cool spy guages in the console?
