What drew you to the 67-72 Chevy Trucks?
 

What was it the drew you to the 67-72 Chevy Trucks. Before I bought my 70cst I was actually looking for a mid 50's Chevy truck. It was through the reading of various threads on this site that I became aware of the 67-72 C10's. When I stumbled across my 70cst BB it was luv at first site.

So what's your story?

My dad owned a 72 GMC short fleet. I loved riding in that truck when I was younger. When I finally saved up enough money, I was debating between a 47-54 or a 67-72. 69 short fleet won out.

My dad had a 71 k/10 that he restored in the early 90's when I was only 5-6 years old. That truck and my dad are the reason I'm into these old trucks. That truck was the love of my life for the first several years I was alive. He sold it a few years after its restoration and I've (we've) missed it ever since. Ever since that time of my life I've been hooked on them. To me these trucks are about family tradition and creating memories that last longer than the trucks them selves.

When i was younger I was obsessed with musclecars, and the 67-72 style was the truck that screamed muscle. Some other years were nice, but just didnt have the same feel.

My grandpa was a dairy farmer and had a 69,probably a c-20. I bought a 72 c-10 and new to the internet. I needed some parts so I was surfing the net and found this site.

Drove my dad's 70 C20 when I was 8 years old out on our farm- been hooked ever since.

What drew me to these trucks is I have always loved old cars and trucks. I love all the older Chevy and GMC pickups and wanted one. I wanted an Advance Design or Task Master but most work is down the hiway, so I needed something more up to date for daily driving. I saw these trucks as being as modern as a truck ever needed to get, bought one, and have been driving them ever since. Now young bucks feel these trucks need to be modernized. Go figure.

When they came out I was twelve and I was totally into cars as a kid. I built models and was right up on the changes from year to year. I really liked the new style that brought the trucks into the late-60s era.
When I got out of high school I got a job being a carpenter's helper. I was doing other things that made me realize I needed a truck. I really like the old trucks, but wanted something to travel long distances to work, where ever I found it. I bought a traded-in '72 in '73. I didn't want a new style truck and didn't really want one so new. But, I was there with a friend and I guess I got a good deal.

I love the looks and these trucks treat me right, so I stayed with them all along. There are so many variations, they are all you ever could need. And parts interchange like nothing else. These are easy to keep on the road

Bought me a 69 fleetside swb in 1975 (I was 23 yrs old and always been a chevy man). Had to sell it '84 due to the fact that I needed 4x4 to get up my new driveway. Anyway here recently I got the bug to revisit my past and bought my '70 which was the year I graduated, and it's a blast to work on, not to mention how many looks I get going down the road. So glad I found this site 'cause you're never too old to learn...Ed...:chevy:

I was a teenager in the 90s and was dazed and confused. I love that black c10 at first site.

I bought a 66 Chevy stepside, then bought a friends 71 shortbox fleetside, then I bought a 1975 GMC Gentleman Jim, then I bought 1974 454 1 ton longbed, then I bought a 98 ext cab 4X4, then a 2000 GMC ext cab 4X4 (still have) and back to a 1969 GMC short box stepside. Full circle.

I bought my first one in memory of my brother. He loved this style of truck and I even had bought him one at one time it was a 71 short I bought him for like $500 bucks and he picked up thrown away part from the floor of my shop and got it running. He probably sold it or traded it for a cold 12 pack, he had a problem.
I saw one [70 long] at the salvage sale I go to and it got me thinking of him and I bought it.
That was 5 builders and 3 or 4 parts trucks ago.I had still had him helping me around the shop I could have some done cause he would have worked on them and kept me motivated. Jim

I also was looking for a chevy or gm truck from the 50s to early 70s for my retirement to give me something to work on. I always liked the movies of out west and seeing old trucks driving down a dirt road, simpler times. when finding and buying the 69 I googled 1969 chevy truck to learn every thing I could and to find info on it. one of the sites was this one and I've been here ever since. WAAY more info than any other site, and very active daily, not like other sites. I'm also glad it fell in the catigory of 67-72 because our sister sites of other years are'nt as active. seems to be a lot more 67-72 owners..

My dad gave me a 72 blazer when I was 16 and I loved that thing. The fact that I could cruise all the mud holes with my friends in a convertible was awesome. My buddies ended up nick naming it the "Super Blazer" due to the fact we rarely got stuck. Being a young dumb kid, I ended up completely destroying that thing and have regretted it since. Ever since then, I have always wanted another one.

This is hilarious! Believe it or not, I have wanted a swb ever since I saw that movie. It is still one of my favorite movies to this date. The scene where they race the swb against the Chevelle is what done it for me. Originally I was hell bent on getting another blazer, but once I saw that truck race the Chevelle, I was hooked. I had to have one!

Heres a pic of my Chevelle bluechevy68. Original SS 396 4 speed bucket. Even still has all of the original metal. As soon as I get my truck done, the car will be up to bat!

I grew up loving classic cars and trucks. When i was thirteen i bought my '72 nova project. When i was 15 i needed a vehicle that i could drive for work and found my truck. It was another love at first site. It was my favorite year and color. I didnt even try to haggle price. I had to have it. After some research on it I found this site and so glad i had. My addiction to these trucks is getting stronger everyday thanks to everybody here :lol:

Was always raised around classic american muscle stuff and one time at a car show i saw a blacked out 72 longbed k20 and fell in love with these 67-72's. Then the opportunity arrived when my dad's friend Mark wanted to get rid of a bunch of stuff and offered it to me and i gladly accepted. When i went to see what i was getting myself into it was a cab and frame and a 70 short step parts truck, minus motor and trans. Come with a whole bunch of fenders and doors, an extra fleetside short bed, grills for a 71-72 and an extra cab for patch work. So i may build two shortbeds, one step and one fleetside. So theres my story :D

No smog and already owned a square body :) Apparently I'm buying vehicles backwards, the older the better. Funny though, no one in my family had a classic, so not sure where it came from.

My dad owned a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner that he had nearly perfect & straight, he bought it in 1997, a year after I was born. Around 2012 he got into competitive biking, like in the Tour de France, and sold it. I told him not to and that he'd regret it, but he did anyways (mom wanted that side of the garage back).

Nearly a year after, he had a problem in his right leg, he couldn't feel from his knee down. Went to the doctor, they took him into intensive care because of a huge clot in his knee. Long story short - lost his right leg from above the knee at 50 years old, and could no longer bike. He soon after regretted selling his Roadrunner, and wanted a new project. But he is the type of person who wont shell out the money unless it's literally a steal, he went to see tons of cars for sale, but never acted on them until they were gone.

So I decided to just get my own, so I saved up for a few months and had $900, looked at tons of trucks, found one I wanted to buy but someone stole the key so no one would buy it until he could. And then I found my truck, 1970 longbed fleet, 350 v8/saginaw 3 speed and took out a loan for $1100 (first loan, only 17) and drove it home. That was the first time I ever drove a manual trans, and as my dad only has one leg, I had to drive it and learn right then and there. Drove it 30 minutes home.
It's funny the things that change your life completely, I was never into cars until my dad lost his leg, and all of the sudden I absolutely loved cars.

As for the reason for the truck, I just loved the way the 69-70 looked with that big grill with 'Chevrolet' across it. The grill sold it for me, and I always wanted a longbed (not a big fan of shortbeds). I also wanted to do burnouts. :smoke:

I bought a wrecked 95 sierra from my dad when I was 18. I restored everything on it and bagged it. When I was looking up parts and custom paint jobs to give me ideas I came across a 69 or 70 c10 and I was instantly in love. I told my self I was going to have one some day. 3 years later I did.

I was about 9 and my dad had a green 69 or 70 SWB stepside. He totalled it one night and it sat in our back pasture upside down. Being a kid in the country I used the cab as my "fort" or anything my imagination could conjure up from a tank to a space ship.

There was just something about it that I loved. My very first truck was a 67 Ford 3/4 ton that had been my grandfathers, it was pea green (turquois?) and had a flat bed. It was ugly as sin but it was my hay hauling truck until I made enough money to by my 71 when I was about 15 (summer of 1984). It was my pride and joy and I worked my butt off to be able to get it.

It's really the only body style of GM trucks that I'm passionate about and I've owned multiples of most every bodystyle since but still love these.

well I was raised by my granparents. The earliest truck I remember my grampa driving was a 71 cst longhorn. mint green with the fire extinguiser mounted on the passenger kickpanal and the latch ching-a-linging when we`d hit a bump.
so this got my chevy blood flowing
later i went back to my moms and right down the street from our house was (and still is)
a BEAUTIFUL 1967 GMC 3/4 ton all original and still the turquiseish color with a white top. I mean beautiful. someday im going to go offer rediiculous money for this beast.
so I always had a good looking oldie truck to admire.
this is what got me started on my love for CHEVY and GMC TRUCKS!!
