Yes, it should depending on the year. Post the first 5 or so of the vin and I'll check.

I have to replace the cab on my 69 gmc I bought a 71 chevy cab so how do I explain a GMC with a chevy vin?

Mikey, you'll need to check with your local DMV and they will help you get it sorted out. I had a 1969 shortbed I owned with just a aluminum plaque with a sticky backing with the MO state logo and a state issued vin number imprinted on it located in the door jamb area. So they probably will do a similar type Vin for you, I don't know because every state is different.
