Side Rails on Ebay, good for short box installation
I'll have to strip all the parts off my truck one day and part it out. I paid $110 for my NOS set 27 years ago.

Those are neat and all, but they'd have to be attached to a truck for me to give that kind of money!

They are hard to find......and I like them. But not $1500 like them.

Re: Side Rails on Ebay, good for short box installation
$1500 for THOSE!!!.....Sorry...NOT when I got a WHOLE darn truck for a 1/3 if that cost. :chevy:

Re: Side Rails on Ebay, good for short box installation
To me $1500 seems like a fair price considering the rarity. I think the last set I saw listed was over 10 years ago and they sold for over $1,000 if I remember correctly. This is a great example of supply and demand. There just aren't any available as they rusted up or became damaged back when fairly new. Sadly I'd never be able to pay that much, but I'll bet the new owner is glad to have them.

Agreed....a seldom seen part. If anyone buys them...posts some pics installed for us!!!

My dad and I actually have a perfectly new set of these just chilling in our basement that my dad bought many years ago.

Re: Side Rails on Ebay, good for short box installation
These rails were originally from an 58 El Camino. Follows the history of borrowing parts from previous years. The set of rails on my trailer were from an El Camino.

Are these the real deal?

Re: Side Rails on Ebay, good for short box installation
They certainly appear to be the real deal. There really isn't anything close, other than some vertical stanchions instead of the angled versions. The parts that made these up were also used on boats, so there are some varied combinations that exist but the differences are readily noticeable.
And thanks for posting the link! I know have a few more photos in the collection. |

I'd still put these on a truck anyhow as they are so close to the original. Years ago I bought a single base mount and it was shorter than the original ones I have. Maybe off a F**d. So interest got the best of me since the link to Atlanta showed the rails on a GMC. I looked in the 64 & 65 GMC Accessories book and there's no listing for the rails. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-C...no/image25.jpg |
Re: Side Rails on Ebay, good for short box installation
Thanks for clarifying! I never noticed the mounting base differences before.
