need help fuel question!

Here's what I have!

1971 C-10 327 with TH400 edlebrock carb 1406 electric fuel pump, tank has been relocated to rear.

It idles fine and seems to drive ok, un-till I stop or slow down to stop it stalls, but will start right back up in a few seconds.
Also have a fuel filter clear type between the fuel pump and carb, that seems to be empty most of the time when I check it.

So bad fuel pump or floats ??????

sounds like either of those to me. I'd try floats first because that is free.

Re: need help fuel question! was not fuel updated

Well after fooling around with the carb and fuel pump, I gave up , cleaned up and had dinner. Then got to thinking the wife had a olds cutlass that did the same thing, and it was the what you call it on the tranny, so went on to youtube and find some info on the TH400 and found it down shifts by vacumn.

went out this morning and checked the vacumn line on the tranny sure enuff was half falling off, so cut it back and a clamp and truck runs better and does not stall at a stop.

sometimes you just have to relax and think.
