I-6 ?, 235 or 250 or 292
Trying to figure out what I have. here are some of the #'s on the block.
CON2 L17S 3850817 plate with this on it: Bore 040 Rods 010 Mains 010 side covers are 4 1/2" also looking for header(s) for this. Thanks for the help |
I'm assuming this is in your 67 pickup. I went to www.inliners.org to their casting list. 3850817 shows as either a 230 or 250. Since it is in your 67, it should be a 250. The plate shows that the block has been bored over .040, crank ground under .010 on both the main and rod bearings.
try www.stoveboltengineco.com or www.cliffordperformance.com for headers and intakes. I would also get a copy of Leo Santucci's book "Chevrolet Inline Six Power Manual". You can buy it from the online bookstores or at inliners store. |
I pulled out Santucci's book. For your casting number he shows 66-70 230, 66-79 250 for passenger cars. He also shows 62-79 250 for trucks, but I have to disagree with him there because the 62 used the old 235, while the 63-66 truck used the 230. The 250 was introduced in trucks in the 67 model.

Fred, was the 230 available in 67-72 trucks? I only ask because it is listed in my owner's manual as one of the available engines, yet I have never seen nor heard of one.
