One ton man to auto

Trans, what all do I need except for the obvious? I guess the cheapest way to go would be a TH400 I have a couple of 4L80E's laying around but I may use them later and the shift computer is kinda pricey. I have a column[auto] that I can upgrade to a tilt. what about the drive shaft length? would i need a new front half? I was thinking about going to the junkyard in the morning to look for some 1 piece wheels[ it has 3 one piece and 3 split?]and i figured to look for a trans while there. Jim

You would need a front yoke for the drive shaft if you use the TH400, they are different. I think it is the same as the 4l80e yoke if you have one of those laying around. I don't know for sure but I think you would have to shorten the shaft unless you can find one out of a truck that has/had a TH400 in it at the junkyard. I presume your truck has a 133" wheelbase so the chance of that is probably pretty slim....
