Soon to hit the paint booth (red options)
Hi, I'm trying to figure out wich red color to choose.
Dont know if I should go with any candy paint o metallic. I really like a truck with bright red color that pops but will I get tired of it quicker than a candy red paint, hmm. I just know I dont want it to be too dark. Please post pictures of red C10s or just any red truck/car that can inspire me to choose :) |

torch red [Corvette] and victory red[Silverado] are the same reds. Look at a Caddy Alante red from the mid to late 90's. The is the reddest I found when painting my drag car. Brilliant and vivid. Jim

Re: Soon to hit the paint booth (red options)
If you are going to the expense and trouble of a candy red I'd suggest a darker red over a mettalic gold base. Very classic deep warm color you really don't see anymore. White is the brightest base and silver is a close second. But again I prefer a gold or copper base under most candy colors.
In any event shot test panels first of possible shades/colors over various bases before making a final decision. Then get them out in the sun and sun protected shade to see which works for you. |

White under red will make the red pop a little more. If your new to painting I would suggest that you shay away from candies 3 stages or pearls it is hard enough for a guy with gun time much less someone new to spraying. i hope you don't take offense to my comments they are only trying to help. Jim
