gm 10 bolt front diff question
Have a 79 k10 short bed . While back made the body solid and put a 292 strait 6 motor in backed up with 4 speed and 205. Drive truck daily for past year and a half. Have a more (economic) daily now and drive the pickup around town and in the woods a lot. As far as the front differential it is manual locking Spicer hubs. But it is an OPEN diff. Having manual hubs and a transfer case in 2wd does anybody have an opinion on welding the front Axel fulltime posi? Kind of on the fence about it ...but when I get stuck in mud it would be nice to have at least the front posi. Any input or opinions welcome thank you

Re: gm 10 bolt front diff question
That's going to cause a lot of stress for a lot of parts. Cheapest alternative would be a drop in locker. I have run them in fronts for years. Can be a pain in the snow.

Re: gm 10 bolt front diff question
I would vote NO on welding ........
Install a good limited slip or posi unit. You need to be able to make turns and not lose control or break things. I put a limited slip in the front axle of my 84 K10 and what a difference in the mud !! |
