Can this rust situation be salvaged
 

Question on a 63 Ford Falcon ... even though that's not a 67-72 Chevy, seems the folks here have good opinions and insight.

A neighbor inherited this Falcon and he started to pull out the carpet, etc. He found massive rusted out holes in the drivers side of the cab.

Can this even be salvaged? If so, what's the best first step.

Probably going to cost more than the falcons worth.

I am sure that can be salvaged. There are sheetmetal parts available in falcon specialty areas of the web. I am sure this will get moved to the alternate tinkerings section here. There you will find similar builds and repairs.

The work needed will not be cheap or easy to do for the inexperienced person.

You can buy Mustang floorpans so probably Falcon too. The subframe tubes may be rusty, but they too can be replaced or repaired. Hope you are getting in cheap.

Oh man, that one is really bad. There is a chance the mustang pans would fit if there are not any falcon pans made since they were the similar/ same f-body chassis.

you mentioned inherited. if the car has sentimental value it may be worth it but otherwise if there is that much rust in the floor there is probably rust in other places as well making the repairs much more expensive than the car is worth.

Personally I would part it out and take that money to get a better base to play with.

My I built a 67 mustang convert several years ago, [caught fire like to burnt the whole dang shop down!!]but the Mustang was derived from the Falcon with most of it being falcon so I would say the floors can be had pretty cheap. What i was getting to about the Mustang is it is THE cheapest car I have ever bought parts for. I could build 4 Mustangs for the price of one Chevelle. Good fenders cost like $100 bucks Crazy cheap! now I*'m not a Ford fan but if someone wanted/needed to build an old something they need to think Mustang there everywhere and cheap to build and easy to sell. Some of you guys are quick to condemn this car without asking any questions. What is the body style and how much more rust does it have? If it just needs floor pans and is not a total rust bucket, and If it is a convertible, two door hardtop, or a two door post it can be made into a neat ride. This car will get more looks at a car show than a Nova because it's unusual.

The early falcons aren't bad looking and a quick search shows front floor sections are ~100.

I say look over the entire car carefully for rust. Does this particular car have special sentimental value? How much are you willing to spend?
