Radiator Fan
I am currently using this fan:

Re: Radiator Fan
Is it the same size, width, length with the clutch water pump bolts in the same location, and is the pitch on the blades going the same way, does it spin and not hit anything?
They make a 7 blade also that came on my 78 |
Re: Radiator Fan
The fans pictured appear to have opposite pitch. Depending on your belt arrangement one of them will draw air in from the front and the other will blow out.
Which way does your water pump turn? Are you using v-belts or a newer serpentine belt? |
Re: Radiator Fan
No ..as kalbert says ..those are 2 different fans.looking at front of motor the first pic is a clockwise rotation and the second pic is counter clockwise rotation. My 2 cents is I would go electric fan if possible

Re: Radiator Fan
No not going electric. To much hassle and money involved. I will just go back to the junkyard and hopefully find a proper fan.

Re: Radiator Fan
I wouldn't go electric either. The second fan looks to be off a serpentine belt set up, since it's reverse rotation. You should be good to go with any other V-belt setup with the same diameter and water pump bolt spacing. Check cars too.
(that clutch wont work either just in case) |

Re: Radiator Fan
not positive about V-belt stuff but quick story
I have a small block, went to serpentine setup. Had 5 blade, wanted more. Found 9 blade big block serpentine truck in junkyard. Swapped over including clutch fan. Worked great. So, you might be able to find 6 cylinder and big block stuff to use too. |
