all lights out???
 

1976 c20 ute, I was playing with the headlamp dip switch in the dark, it was broken. I managed to touch some wires and all the lights have blown, but, I cannot find the fuse.
Does anybody know where it would be?

I would invest in a new (good used) switch. I thought I had a diagram for the 76 C/K's, but I can't find it. Here is a diagram for 77' that should be the same...

It is possible. The switches get gunked up, contacts become loose, spring becomes faulty etc. You could tinker with it, clean it up, give it a once over....? Doesn't hurt.

If your fuses are fine and the wires are not grounding out then process of elimination says it is the switch itself. Inexpensive fix, although I am sure time is the real PAIN IN THE BUM if you do not have them readily available down under....

I live in the middle of a forest, my dimmer switch was bad so I played with it.
No lights 5 ks from home and as dark as it can get.
Luckily, I had a magnetic torch which I clipped to the front and drove on at about 15 kph following a small beam of light. Luckily I know the track well.
Still it was a nuisance

Ohhhh man! I can imagine the frustration! Well, I hope you get it figured out. Just an suggestion....wire up some aftermarket lights on your bumper, in your grill or on top ??? wherever you have the room and wire them straight to a toggle switch, fuse block from the battery just in case it ever happens again in the future. I have had something similar happen to me. My KC offroad lights saved me from having to go through that. They also come in handy when all lights are working.

The headlights don't have a fuse in the fuse panel. Instead, the headlight switch itself has a bimetallic circuit breaker. This could be packed in in your switch.
