heres my 68 short bed stepside I picked up a couple weeks ago. big plans for it. runs great on a fresh rebuilt small block. not sure on the displacement, gonna pull oil pan this weekend. block casting on back is 397011, the stamp on front has been milled off from the block being decked. msd electric ignition, double hump heads, with double springed valves. edelbrock intake and carb, also have a spacer to go with. Id love to look and see its the rare 327 that's worth alooottt of money. if not im hoping for at least a 4 bolt main to build on. long tube headers, also have an extra set of jegs long tubes. its a solid truck!! just need to do some tlc.
BIG PLANS ahead... static slam on some mob steel black 20's, possibly a t56 swap after everything is said and done. without further ado here are some pics!

EDIT I couldn't get the engine pic to not be upside down.. oh well. its been cleaned up a little while looking for block numbers

Really the main problem ive come across is the cross member that held the original trans in (im assuming it was a manual truck) has been cut out by torch. And the new trans crossmember is a 1x6 plate od metal once agsin... they were masters with the torxh for bolt holes instead of using a dang drill. Ill have picz this afternoon but its def something that ill have to clean up and prob need to take cab off to do

Welcome from New York :). Very nice truck you got your hands on there. I've got a 68' fleetside longbed I've been slowly working on lol. More is going to come to it this summer. Can't wait to see what you have planned for this!

Nice truck. It sounds like the same guy made my transmission crossmember, mine is made of angle iron though.

so the first thing of business is to smooth the rough patches out on the body... do a 5 lug swap with disc fronts junk yard style. and lower it about 5/6 at first.

Re: hey guys NEW member here

if I use moser rear axle 5 lugs I still need to use 71-72 disc brake setup? what about the front 5 lug disc swap.. heard I can use later style spindles and brake gear
