Here's what I kinda crawled under the truck to see today...they are all hooked up on the drums and they are too short and wrong end...I checked back and they are listed for a 63 with short bed and coils...:waah:

thats cuz ur missing the equalizer bar, it hooks to the brake lever by a longer bar that extends back and the equalizer bar rides on the and then the cables hook to it. unless u have the first design, mine is for a second design on my 65

the spring hooks to the bottom of the driveshaft opening, i will post a pic tomorrow... there is an extension wire piece also that just hooks to the spring to make it long enough to reach the opening...

Re: LMC rear E brake cables?

I can't speak to the quality of the LMC cables, as they didn't have applications for the 4wd trucks, but I can recommend Inline Tube, http://www.inlinetube.com/. Someone on here recommended them to me and the cables I got from them looked like they came from the OEM. Can't say enough about how they look and fit.

Re: LMC rear E brake cables?

That's great info thank you! The quality seems good on the lmc cables but the springs were too long and they make no mention of a 1st or second design on the cables. I could be wrong..it happens a lot.

The early design 63's had threaded ends.....the later design 63's had the ball ends.

And as mentioned above.....inline tubes does great work. Just did all new cables in stainless from them.

Re: LMC rear E brake cables?

Yes sir, the LMC website makes no differentiation between the 2 ...I called them and they said they had no intention of changing their catalog to reflect the fact that they only offered one of the designs..they want me to ship the parts back at my cost..I am done with LMC ..I have ordered the parts through a local supplier just because I wanted them finished this week...I saw the inline stuff and it looks amazing..

Re: LMC rear E brake cables?

As much a PITA as it might be....I'd pay to send it back and then deal with other vendors.

Its too bad they won't fix their issue and will cost a few bucks to ship back, but you still need the correct part.

I'd post in the vendor review to educate others on the issue with the part.

I also use inline tube for all my brake lines. Great service, parts and fast shipping.

Don't rub it in. This thread reminded me that I ordered the wrong front cable for my K10, so I took care of that at lunch today. Anyone need a front cable for a '65 without the "shackle" on it?

That's a rhetorical question. I'll post it in the Classifieds as soon as the new one arrives.

yeah the front cable doesnt attach through the frame like the C10, just attaches on top of the crossmember...

The discrepancy on my cable is on the handle end. The current cable has this:

But the cable I originally ordered from Inline Tube had just the ball. I ordered a new cable today with that piece. I trust it will otherwise work.

i havent seen any repops with the correct hand brake attachment piece. maybe the think one will cut a slice in the old attachment piece and weld it back up after you slide the new one on?

I thought about that, but the cable for a '66 K10 comes with it, so I'm going to give it a try first.

Strangely, the cable I just received from Inline Tube has the piece, but otherwise it looks nothing like what they pictured for that P/N.

Re: LMC rear E brake cables?

I should take the old cable out and compare it to the two of these before doing anything, but I think what is going to happen is I'm going to have to call them and see if they can make up a cable like the top one, but with the piece from the bottom one.
