Disc brake conversion.
I own a 1967 Chevy C10 short wheelbase pickup. I want to swap the current factory drum brakes for a Chevy factory disc brake setup. I have read that this is possible with certain year Chevy pickups. Can't help but think it would be much cheaper than an aftermarket swap. The truck is a 1/2 ton, V8, short wheelbase with 6 lug hubs with power steering. It has a 12 bolt rear end which I would like to swap drums for disc also. Is what I want to do possible or am I whistling in the wind. My hope is to have a safe stopping pickup that I intend to hand down to my grandson someday. Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

Re: Disc brake conversion.
the search button will reveal several days worth of reading but what your wanting to do has been done a quadzillion times[ well almost] the whole front suspension crossmember and all from a truck 73 through 87 will provide the parts you seek so will the 71 and 72 trucks as they were all disc trucks[front only I mean] but the replacement stuff for the 73 and newer are lots cheaper to buy. that may be the reason the square truck swap are so popular plus there are everywhere in scrap and salvage yards. Get the front sway bar too it will help a bunch. Jim

Re: Disc brake conversion.
ok heres what I did. Bought drop spindles, used 72 disc components, all new for front. Then Used Auto city clasic rear disc conversion for rear. Read good and bad things bout them. They were nothing but timely and nice. It hooked up as said it would and had to do no altering to anything. Has the emergency brake lines and all. cost 430 bucks I think. I love them and took me bout an hr to do both sides. Easy as pie.

Re: Disc brake conversion.
yes get the front end and brakes and steering linkage from a 71-72 for the easiest conversion. 73-87 components are a popular swap too. all will bolt right on with very minor mods.
