Ram horn manifolds on K10 4speed
Hey all. Would ram horn manifolds work with a 4x4 that is an SM465 with a mechanical clutch? You can buy a set that dump straight down from corvettes, or truck ones that dump in the rear.
Think.I would have clearance issues? I think they might help me in my 305 wake up project. Don't think headers are a good idea on a daily driven 4x4. |
Re: Ram horn manifolds on K10 4speed
I wouldn't count headers out I have a set of old hedmans on my 74 with a 350/sm465 I tinker on it alot but I have never had any issues with leaks and I drive it daily but I did have to custom make my exhaust but I also am running a 2.5" exhaust

Re: Ram horn manifolds on K10 4speed
I put a set of truck center dump ram horns on my 86. I have a hydraulic clutch, but the mechanical clutch would fit too. I have 63/64 corvette manifolds on my 70, 2.5" exhaust, no problem with the mechanical clutch on it.

Re: Ram horn manifolds on K10 4speed
Good to hear. I am going to be using this truck on the highway and I think I will end up with a quieter cab using ram horns and duals as opposed to headers and duals. Also don't need any high rpm power only low end torque. I may look for some corvette type manifolds.

Re: Ram horn manifolds on K10 4speed
The manifolds I bought were cast in 2002, so they still make them. I am trying to remember where I bought them on-line at. I did have to cut the accessory mounts off of them.

Re: Ram horn manifolds on K10 4speed
OE center dumps won't work because of motor mount location I believe.
