McGaughys 63156 Front Disc Brake Kit work with Belltech spindles?

I'm looking at the McGaughy's Front Disc Brake Kit and have 3" Belltech drop spindles. Does anybody have any experience running this kit with Belltech (or other brand drop spindles) aside from the McGaughy spindles Summit recommends?

My truck is a '71 GMC with 1.25" rotors.

Which part # Belltech spindle do you have?

I was hoping you'd chime in. :) I have the Belltech 3120 that you recommended for my other truck a few years back.

They will work fine.
They work with 1.25" rotors.

The "oddball" C10 drop spindle is the Belltech 3200.
This is the 73-87 Light Duty spindle for 1" rotors.
The McGaughy's kit won't work with the 3200 spindle.

Have you priced thise parts locally.
Seems like that kit is just normal 5-lug rotors and D52 calipers, hoses and bearing.
Might be a good price.
But is it good stuff or China made parts?
I don't know.

Thanks, Keith. I haven't priced each item separately from a local parts house but plan to. Any recommendations? Not looking for anything super fancy but definitely an upgrade from what i have now, which is rusty and unsafe.

This looks like a reasonable kit. I've seen you mention POL before.

I'm not a fan of drilled or slotted rotors since they rust if they don't have an expensive coating on them.
Anymore I would just use a stock smooth QUALITY rotor, bearings and hoses, with a set of Wilwoods D52 calipers.
They come in red or black.

I also like Wilwoods Aluminum M/C over any other brand.

That seems ok but you have to watch hidden shipping costs.
Anymore I look at Summit Racing or Jegs,... or anyone that offers free shipping.
Those rotors are heavy!

Also Look at board vendor AZProPerformance.
He seems to have good deals for board members.

All great suggestions. Thank you. I'll likely just piece together my own kit utilizing what you described above.

Sorry to thread jack GAc10boy, but I have a question that I feel could be answered in this thread. Currently I have 15's and if I were to use a belltech 3' drop spindles vs a McGaughy 2.5' drop spindle, would the 3' spindle create an issue with rubbing the wheel? Or is the rubbing with 15' wheels everyone talks about just caused by the control arm?

The rubbing is caused by the wheel.
A 15" wheel with more than 3.5" of backspacing and drop spindles.
2.5" and 3" both cause issues.

So is a 3' any worse than a 2.5' spindle?

Not really.
Either way you need to trim the lower a-arm to provide clearance around the lower balljoint on the a-arm lip.
