Lesson Learned about 15 x 8 Six Hole Steelies
2 Attachment(s)
I was at the wreckers today and found a 1980 GMC1500 4 x 4 pickup. The two front tires rims were gone but the back ones were there. I thought they must be 15 x 8's cause they had 6 holes. Okay so I pay for them and they remove the tires and lo and behold they are 15 x 6. So I guess my assumption that all 73/87 4 x 4 's with 15 inch rims would have 15 x 8's is wrong.

Actually very few of them had 15x8 "stock" wheels. Alot of them had 15x8 rally wheels...

Do you know if the 15 x 8's were an upgrade option?

Re: Lesson Learned about 15 x 8 Six Hole Steelies
That's what he means. The plain wheels were 15x6, the higher trim packages that got the rally wheels were 15x8. Very few stripper models came with the 6" rims but LOTS of trucks had rallys.

The 6" steel wheels and caps came on base level with 8" rallyes and 8" wheel an option. High trim level came with rallyes included

As i said, I learned something today. I think the truck was a " High Sierra " model which is not the top line truck.

Already Gone
With the current trend of return to stock I would think that these wheels may be more desirable than the ralley's |
