a833
Has anyone swapped an A833 into their 4x4? is it even possible?

Re: a833
Had a 82 K25 with 6.2 & A833,sold it a month ago & it was a factory set up. Have a 85 K10 parts truck with 305 & A833 also factory drive train. Not sure how common they were but a nice tranny though.

Re: a833
I seen a guy selling one(K10) on CL, his ad said something about "side shifting". I guess the linkage is on the side?

Re: a833
Would any of you put a833 in your 4x4? I heard its not very strong but is very nice shifting, plus the OD

Re: a833
It worked ok in the diesel,I had 35s on it & 6" lift as well.It was used as a work truck for about 3 years that I had it & stood up even in some pretty good mud & snow days.My linkage was wore a bit & would get stuck in second sometimes, nothing that a cresent wrench wouldn't fix though. The truck had 3.73s and that was a bit too tall with 35s, I swapped in a 4.10 & this helped quite a bit as first gear is quite high.

Re: a833
It's a nice cruiser trans. I wouldn't use it for four wheeling or work.
