Hello everybody!

This is my first post here although I have been using this website quite abit. Anyway I went out and bought a truck last Friday, a 91 c1500. This is my first vehicle purchase and I'm really pleased with it thus far. Sadly I'm going out of town for this week so no pictures yet. Anyway being the dumb kid that I am, I would like to go though it and give it the 100 thousand mile treatment myself. New plugs maybe new U joints all that great stuff. So this will be my summer project this year and I'm still pretty poor so no crazy mods or anything...yet.
I picked it up from a local guy who lived in town, and he said it was his fathers and he just puttered around town with it for the last twenty years. It's in really nice shape, few interior issues but it feels like a brand new truck. It's a 350 with the 4l60 and runs really strong, 124k miles for 15 hundred bucks. So either tomorrow or when I get back in town ill be asking questions and posting a few pictures.

I've got a 91 Suburban with the 350 and it's still running good at 226K. I did have to have a head gasket changed a couple years ago.

Its always fun to get a new truck and even better when its you 1st. I would do the basics like oil & lube, tune up should include wires cap rotor and plugs. Change other filters and check the PVC valve (I just picked up a 88 and it was plugged up) replaced it and truck runs better. It would be good to pull the wheels and check the brakes. Unless the u-joints are bad I would not change them just lube if they have a grease fitting.
Only other suggestion to a new and low on money driver is do the items that make the truck run well and stop well the cosmetics can be done later.

Probably change the transmission fluid also ;)

I'm planning on doing theses things myself. So I will be asking a lot of questions about how to accomplish theses tasks. And my father owns a 94 Suburban, so its not totally foreign. Thanks for the input.

So first question. The horn wire was busted so I picked up a new one. When I was installing it the plastic ring where it sits busted, so now I can't get it in there. Is there anyway I could Jerry rig it? And ill post a few pictures in a bit.
