fuel pump runs all the time
My truck is a 3500 has dual tanks. Back tank has a fuel pump mounted on frame and feeds the front tank as it gets low. why they did this is beyond me. Front pump was replaced late last summer by previous owner. When I turn the key the pump comes on and turns off as it should once pressure is built up. after driving it I will get out to open the yard gate or close it and the pumps are running constantly. Is this normal?

Re: fuel pump runs all the time
What year truck? If fuel injected the pump has to run for the truck to run.

Re: fuel pump runs all the time
We were all new at one time. ;-) But the pump runs to keep the system pressurized. That way when the computer tells the injector to open there is pressurized fuel ready to enter the engine.
