1989 GMC s15 ac problem
Have 1989 GMC s15...
Actually when ever I try to engage AC ..truck stops running ...engine just shuts off. Before this ....I tried to refill refrigerant r134a and it worked for a while ..compressor was engaged while it was sucking refrigerant but later it made a little noise and stopped working... Now whenever I try to engage ac either normal ac or max ac ...engine just shuts off... May I used a wrong port, I bought a retrofit adapter kit. Can anyone show a pic to point which is low port? |
Re: 1989 GMC s15 ac problem
Can you turn the compressor by hand? It should turn fairly easily. Make sure you turn the compressor, not the pulley. You can turn the compressor with the belt still on the engine.
The compressor should not make noise. Noise means lack of lubrication. Once it makes noise, there's no fixing it. The damage is done. And there is probably shrapnel from the compressor in the condenser and a/c lines now. If I had to guess, I would say your compressor is locked up |
Re: 1989 GMC s15 ac problem
If the engine quits when you engage the AC, then I would second that the compressor is locked up.
