Hello from Kansas City

Hello,

While I have been reading this site for a while I figured it was time to join and add what I can. I have owned a handful of older (66-72) GM cars and as a kid my dad drove a 68 C-10 and mom drove a 68 Malibu.

My son is 14 and has his drivers permit so we figured it was time to get him a vehicle of his own. We looked at how much money he had and I asked him what he thought he might like. He decided on a 67-72 C-10, the pictures and build up of the C-10R is what pushed him this direction. He now has himself a 1971 C-10 Cheyenne factory A/C, big block truck. It came from SoCal but ended up here in KS just a few months ago where I found it for sale on the local Craigslist.

We got it running and are now fixing the brakes, it will be getting a set of 15x6 stock steelies in flat black and lowered 4-6 over the next few weeks. It will stay that way until next spring when it will get a 5.3L/4L80E/9" combo that I have sitting around that was for a future project. Once the drive train is in the next steps are 18" wheels, big brakes, short bed, interior, and paint/wrap.

The plan is to keep it up and running with no more than a few weeks to a month of down time but to be completed by Nov 2017 for his 17th birthday.

Thank You
Scott
My son is Nick
