That's neat. Now if they'd just get hot and make a hood. :)

Shipping is going to be a killer. Hopefully someone local will be selling them

Lord, it would sure be nice to have the 8' fleet sides. IF these sell well they might pop them out as well.

Re: Short fleet bed sides available soon!

I think the cost and risk of shipping hoods as large as ours is the main reason they have not been reproduced. Bed sides are long, but not terribly wide (can still be managed by one person). A hood as big as ours would require 2 people to move.

They've reproduced hoods for nearly every truck from the 30's on up, they past ours up.

Re: Short fleet bed sides available soon!

I just emailed them and this is the response I received:

"These bed sides are something that we will be carrying in the future. We are not due to carry them for 4 to 6 months. I hope this helps, have a great day."

I am sitting on 2 sets of long fleetside bed panels right now. Luckily each set has 1 bedside that is in excellent condition(other needs a tiny bit of work). Looks like long fleetsides will become worth more than short fleetsides shortly.

We also have the largest hood produced on any chevy / gmc truck that I'm aware of.

Kudo's to the largest hood!!! Do we get a special award for having the largest one?

As with all repop parts, there is still no substitute for original.

And will probably be of the same quality of the other repop parts. I do realize that a lot of people can't source OEM parts and that some don't have the time or money to fix themselves also. So I'm glad that a part is being made. It'd just be nice if they'd fit as described and were the same quality.

But your 100% correct....can't beat original parts.

Re: Short fleet bed sides available soon!

I've got a spare LH long fleetside panel but it doesn't do me much good for the right side that is all caved in. Got the box off today and upside down on the grass after just about taking my head off from one of the cross beams taking off. I'll probably have a nice shiner at the wedding we are about to attend. On the upside the body work will be much easier now and I need the practice. If a new side panel was available would I buy it? Definitely, but first would need to win the lottery.

the good thing about this is that at some point they might start reproducing the cabs like they do for 47-59. If they don't already, they will probably do the 67-72 cab, and then ours...

Why after hours of beating on mine they finally decided to make them dang you aftermarket!

I think it has to be, because the of the 2 piece way they are designed from the factory...

another question will be are they going to be 2 different thicknesses like the factory ones?
I don't know my sheet metal gauges, but maybe 20 on the outer lower, and 18 on the inner lower and upper?

i called yesterday and they told me they are expecting them around mid to late july, not sure if that's the truth but hope so, looks like I will be making a trip if they get them in.

According to my email, these are suppose to be in-stock this week. But LMC will be carrying them also, and LMC has free truck freight over $1k.

I know a guy with these parts on his truck and they look good.
A fiberglass cab would be awesome

Re: Short fleet bed sides available soon!

What could a person expect to get for a straight used box side, but requiring the usual inside rust clean up? I guess packaging and freight would be the killer in trying to move such a part.
