85 C10 Project Build ....input..suggestions recommendations

Basics of my build. Obviously an 85 C10 truck specs now. 305 sbc with a 700R4 transmission and a 2.73 rear differential.
Want to go up to a 350 sbc with vortec heads and mild cam. Also a better transmission. and better rear gear to get the maximum performance from a mild 350 sbc
As a weekend cruiser that can still pull the weekend toys. But can also lay some stripes if needed. Thanks alot up front.
And let's hear some great Ideals.

Let's see some pictures!

I've got an '86 with a 350, equipped with an RV cam, rebuild quadra-jet (bigger jets), and all emissions controls removed. TH400 trans and a 4:11 rear end. Very peppy on the street with the low-geared rear, I'd address that first ;)

Thanks barbecue
Yes I have been thinking the rear gear first too. Any ideal of a total bolt up swap out there?

Keep the overdrive and install 3.73's

3.73 is definitely in my mind.
Now to find a gm that carriers the same rear end i would much rather find a ready to bolt in assembly. Its looking less likely to find.

I agree with Jake. Keep the 700r4. Some people take great efforts to make the switch to that tranny from TH350 or TH400. I'm not experienced with swapping rear-ends so unfortunately I can't be of help there. I'm sure there are swap kits available?
