Lifted 85 K5 grinding noise when let off gas

Just picked up an 85 Jimmy and finally got it mobile. Has at least a 4"lift (Measured the blocks. Not sure about springs) I'm getting a grinding noise when I let off the gas at higher speeds...maybe 45mph+. Took a few pics of the driveshaft to see if the angles look right. Not sure if it would help to shim it up or if I have enough shaft engaging the splines of the transfer case.

I think you found your problem. Lengthening your drive shaft will help the angle on the upper U-joint. You might need a xfer case drop but not sure, I've read mixed reports about that.

drop your transfer case about an inch.

Unlift the truck.

I got the factory leaf springs and shocks when I bought the truck so that's a possibility, and I'm not opposed to the idea. If I could trade my 35's for some nice 33's I would seriously consider doing it.

I dropped the transfer case tonight so I'll take it for a test run tomorrow and see how that goes.

Transfer case drop did the trick. No weird vibes or grinding noises now. Front driveshaft is close to the exhaust crossover but haven't heard it make any contact. Gonna keep my eye on it and make sure it's not going to be an issue.

Glad the transfer case drop did the trick. It helps correct the steeper drive angle.
