GMC 6x6 Beast hiding in the Sierra Foothills, waiting to be put back to work. Walked by it several times, but never saw it among the trees and brush until today.

Amador County, near Pioneer. On a client's property that's up for sale.

Neato. There used to be an old U.S. army 6x6 up in the hills behind my parents property. Never thought it'd leave but a forest fire came thru and the forest service changed the oil and put some fuel in it and drove it off! Sat for 45 years and no one thought to just drive it off:dohh:

That would be sweet. I did pop the hood and it looked like everything was still there.

Someone here should take it home. I've got a plan to get it out of the trees and positioned for a trailer. Just need a sucker, er... I mean willing buyer to help me.

Just too cool. I love stumbling across rusted relics from before my time in the mountains.

That is a cool find. When i bought my cabin in Sierra County there was a WC52 behind the house. It had been there for a long time. The forest service told me to remove it. My boss remembered the truck from when he was a kid and we towed it out. After all those years out in the elements, I was still able to get it started. It's now a sharp looking old truck and back up in the mountains. It gets putted around now and then.

It looks like it was used as a boom truck. Probably to snag logs out of the woods or load them. That looks like a good one for the "old military truck" brigade to get hold of and redo though.

There are a few of them around this area that still do serious field work.

That's what I'm thinking too. Still has the massive winch mounted behind the cab on the bed.
