Aux. tank valve label

1 Attachment(s)
Does anyone have a legible label with this type of manual aux. tank valve? I'd like to see a picture of one so I can make a new one.
Thanks

here ya go, courtesy of classic bowties. I bought one of these from him a while back. anyway - it's not a label, it's a plastic placard that screws to the floor. If you have dual dealer installed saddle tanks, you're good to go with this, but note that it was also used with the single driver's side RPO NL2 aux tank valve http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=665155

The one shown is '72 factory option and what you need is one for an aftermarket set-up. I have one from Leisure industries that is from my '72 K2500 for the dual tanks in it. I'll get a picture in the morning

Thank you both, I appreciate it!

I have the aftermarket single driver's side tank.

I have one on my Longhorn and it is excellent shape. Its from "Travel Tanks" if that is the brand of your accessory tank. I can get you a picture tomorrow night if someone else doesn't get you one by then.

I thought about that. I figure since his is illegible he has no idea what brand he has. But I guess it doesn't matter. There were a few outfits offering these. Mine is for dual tanks, so will vary slightly. I guess just leave off the "right" marking.
I went out t my work bench for it first thing this morning where it has been for a long time. That's when I remembered just last week with all this rain I did some long needed organizing and it's in a box with other parts in my parts attic. I'll get out there now and grab a picture.

EDIT: I don't want to keep anyone else from showing a picture. I went out and looked and looked. Looks like I hid that bx from myself because it sure wasn't where I could grab it. I don't get it, but oh well. Gotta head out, but I'll look more later

Here are the pics of the Travel Tank Switch Plate. I hope this helps you . On my truck there is a tank on each side of the box and the original still in the cab.

Re: Aux. tank valve label

Cool! Looks like the same valve too, mine has the third port capped. The label looks to be made out of the same material, is yours heavy plastic?
Thanks for taking the time to get the photos, I'll let you know how it turns out. And thanks for the effort as well Tim!

How does it fill? Do you have a picture of the filler location or the switch in the cab for the gauge? I am all about learning on these trucks.

Re: Aux. tank valve label

I have the 2 what looks like aluminum doors in the bed one on each side, no keys of coarse previous owner lost those years ago. The switch is the same as the one pictured on the second post on the thread it broke off before when I put new carpet in. Not sure if they work I want to flush them out and replace the locks on the fuel doors just haven't gotten around to it. It has plastic clear lines that go to what looks like a proportional valve under the truck

Re: Aux. tank valve label

Yeah, that's not a factory set-up. Sorry to disappoint, just a fact. I was willing to learn something new but nothing new here. Those tanks could have been ordered out of the Silver Book (GM approved upfit catalog) and installed before original owner took delivery. Even financed in the car loan. The truck would have been received by the dealer, then set to a local truck upfitter or possibly installed in the dealer service dept. The only factory option side-mount auxiliary fuel tank offered prior to '73 was in '72. It filled up near the top of the bed near the front with the same type cap as the tank in cab and there was a sheet metal cover over the filler tube between the top rail and floor. I have seen aftermarket plastic plaques for the tank valve and it may be that it was the same company as the factory jobber.

Yea, crappy plastic fuel lines were on mine too, although they did last all these years!

Dazza,

Is that Carling toggle switch a momentary on/momentary on of just a on/on switch? I am looking to wire up my other two travel tanks because I have just the engine spudder method right now.

Thanks

To tell you the truth, I don't know, it's what was originally in there and when flipped it would instantly move the fuel gauge to show level of the opposite tank.
