Help with an 85

I'm usually on the older truck side but I'm thinking about picking up an 85 shortbed for my son.

Can I get some recommendations on static drop components and tire/wheel sizes.

Post pics if ya gottem!

Thanks!

I'll start with a few of mine. 5/6 drop with spindles & springs and flip kit in the rear. 20x10 & 20x8 Torque thrust wheels, 275/45 and 245/40 tires.

Something like this? This is as low as I can get it with static.

Had to drive a few hours to get her but the look on his face was worth it!

Here's the truck.

Needs a new dash pad and we want to change the interior color to black.

Lower it, new wheels and tires too.

Would like to add a rear roll pan and maybe do something different with the grille; we'll see.

It has a 305 and a TH350 in it...for now... ;)

Dang! Nice truck. I like the blue. What code blue is it? Thx

The only info I found is that it's called cobalt blue. It is a repaint so I'm not sure if this is a stock color. I'll look around because I've got a glove box full of the original paperwork with the truck. Had 63k miles that I have no reason to believe were not original.

That's sweet. Do you mind taking some pix when you get a chance (engine etc). I drove my grandpas 73 c20 w/454 in high school 10 years ago so I bet your son is pumped to rock the 85!

Ok,
can someone tell me why the inside door handles on my new (to me) 85 look crooked? do they need replacing?

Also, after digging under the seat and in the glovebox, I've got alot of history on this vehicle and it looks like we're the third owner and we can trace it all the back to when it was bought new.

I may be a little strange but I think that's pretty cool.

That is a nice looking truck!!! You have one happy son, I bet!!
As far as the inner handle bezels, They may be missing the screws that hold them tight to the door.

And BTW, here's mine.

wow, that sure look nice. Hope to get ours in that condition soon.

As for the door handles, it's not the bezels that are crooked, it's the actual rectangular handle that you pull on. It is crooked and seems loose but it still opens the door, it just looks like it is flopping around. I'll try to post a pic of what i mean.

BTW,
is that a metal cowl hood? Mind sending me info on that.

I'm thinking of removing all of the emmissions crap but i don't want to open a can of worms (just yet) lol.

Yeah it's metal. I believe it's a new hood with the scoop already integrated. The pervious owner had it installed.

On the handle issue. There's the actual lever that you pull on that opens the door. Then there's the bezel ( black & chrome square piece). From the photo, it looks like the bezel is not attached anymore. Now if the lever itself is loose, then that's under the door panel. Maybe this illustration will help with what is loose.

Here's a site for the hood scoops

Don't buy 17" Torque Thrust 2's. The offset and tire selection stinks. I'm not into big rims but wanted a little bigger to upgrade brakes one day. Not happy, I had to use 1.25" spacers on the rear to make it look right.

I didn't look, I'm old school and 17's are pushing it for me. I would have to think they would be better. I might take a look after a couple of years. Here are my 17". I started my drop today and just have the 2" hangers in the back for now.
