Air conditioning-orifice tube

1 Attachment(s)
Whenever I bought my truck the ac was all kinds of messed up so me and my dad went to working on it and replaced pretty much the whole setup. Then after a few days I was leaking refrigerant on my passenger side floorboard. There was this thing where the orifice tube goes and we had no idea what it was, but we figured it was some type of orifice tube we've never seen before. So we put it back in. My question is should we have replaced it with the new one and can that cause your refrigerant to leak on the floorboard?

Correction: I got confused with the leaking on the floorboard. That was actually my heater core. My leakage is right where that orifice tube belongs. And when I took it apart this was their. But the orifuce tube that I bought off of lmc is a lot smaller and about the same length. So should I replace it with that one?
