List of must do's

Ok, I am asking for help for some of the "must do's on my list as I am running out of time to do the research find the answers or relying on my memory, which is not working well now that I haven't worked on a vehicle of this era in a few years.
I have tried to add what problems I have run into performing the tasks and their solutions I have used. If I had more tools and equipment as others probably have access to would have made some answers easier. But all solutions I feel give everyone more power to help themselves and other if shared. I hope this info helps others.

I really would appreciate any input and if others have question on their project that relate to common task such as these, feel free to ask or comment.

1: ) Fix passenger side door handle-push button getting stuck

need any info on why the spring/plate doesnt seem to have the guide to keep it in place while opening the door.

2: ) replace wood bed-

while trying to get the wood panels off the bed found most are breaking-where the heck do you get an 8-point socket - even Sears(craftsman) doesnt sell them anymore

3: )fix leaky wheel cylinder on rear-

issue wheel cylinder leaking due to out of spec drum, -
solution drum replaced
issue but 1/4" too deep in braking material area.cant find replacement-
solution -trying to retrofit a 14 bolt- axle-
in place orig brake line and wheel cylinder
issue shocks too short
solution replace with replacement of 73-up shock
issue staggered shock mounts on axle
solution move orig shock mount use (find size) bolt/nuts and move to rear of passenger side axle

4 : ) issue replace leaky heater core
solution bought heater core
issue still no heat
solution dont need heat until winter -do later haha

5 : ) issue carburetor leaking
solution rebuild carb _DONE YAHOO

6 : ) turn signal doesn't turn off(on left turns) or signal(left turn) in cab

I really like these mirrors on this truck, the tri-pod kind bounce too much going down the road. Are these any better?

1. Get another handle off the parts section

2. Twist or grind off all hardware and get new.

4..flush radiator and replace thermostat

6. Check the canceling cam in colum

I have those mirrors and they dont bounce. They are a little noisey wind wise

I'd go with a rear disc brake set up and Vintage Air. That's what I'm in the process of doing to my 68

Do you mean it cant be fixed? the chrome seems to be in great shape, the button some times gets stuck(sideways) and the spring that pushes it back that gives you the tension seems weak.

I did a flush and have changed the fluid....plus capped off the heater core so water doesn't go through.....I should have stated that, I have to get the time to change out the heater core

Door handle problemAttachment 1425911 can't really be fixed as they are pot metal. People sometimes surprise me with creative solutions but I've never heard of anybody fixing these. Mine were pitted anyway so I was fine with getting a replacement. Gmc Paul's and Brothers sell better made than original handles that won't break like the originals did so often.(so they say anyway, who knows) they're 50-60 bucks for a set. I'm sure they are also some for sale on the parts board like the other guy said. I got mine from brothers and they seem really nice. Outside looks stock but the inside is slightly different due to "upgrade".

Definitely an upgrade for the brakes, but for now I am trying to get it road worthy quickly and with brake fluid/brake cleaner a wheel cylinder rebuild kit and two shocks I have spent $50 max

I have looked at replacing the air conditioning unit with one that fits under the dash, the two I have looked at are contenders

Custom/Ten , thanks for the information. I guess I will find a place in my shop and create a custom door handle for my beer fridge//freezer with the original handle

Oh gosh, too much to list so I'll sum it up:

Finish the "soft rebuild".

Get licensed.

Drive remaining nice days before winter.
