For Sale: 72 K-5 Blazer
 

Wife says: "Sell the Blazer, you've got too many toys.... I want A/C and automatic trans, I can't push in the clutch." OK, I give!
We towed the K-5 behind the motor home to Fla. last February and I ended up in the hospital for about 2 weeks (nothing to do with the Blazer). She was pretty much trapped between being in the motor home with our Golden Retriever (110 lbs.) and me in the hospital. One night when she left the hospital, about 10 PM, she could'nt get the key to turn in the ignition and after about two hours a security guard was able to get it started. The next day, a nieghbor at the RV Park installed a new cylinder in the ignition switch for her. To make a long story a little shorter, I guess the Blazer is "For Sale".

1972 K-5 350 ci with top loader 4 speed. Everything works except the windshield washers. I re-built the original engine with everything new and the crank turned .010. .030 pistons and 350 HP stock grind cam. The block is "heavy cast" with 4 bolt mains. Heads are stock but re-ground for 202 valves. Edlebrock 650 CFM carb on Edlebrock intake. I fabricated new rocker boxes and with new rocker and front floor panels, it looks pretty good. Was painted stock blue 3 years ago. Can e-mail photos if interested. $5,500 firm!

Wow, that is very nice for $5,500! What is on the front bumper? I like it - but my wife would have the same objections!

72 Blazer
 

Those brackets on the front bumper are for a tow bar we used when we towed the Blazer to Fla. last year. I hated to drill holes for the brackets but had no choice. It is the original bumper and while its straight, it is not show quality anyway.

Thats a nice looking blazer for that price.If it was an auto I would be very interested myself.Goodluck selling it:)

If that is your house in the background Dave you can afford to keep this blazer;) I bought my blazer from a 60 year old guy that bought it from his father (original owner) his wife asked him to sell it because it was too tall (it is only stock height with 28" tires) and because it didn't have air conditioning ( they lived in Oregon:rolleyes: ) He came all the way up to Washington just to bring me some paperwork, and took about a million pics...to make a long story short he is a SAD guy. Make sure you aren't going to say later "I wish I never sold that 72 blazer!" :eek: I love that blazer! Mine is going to look almost like that, but it is dark blue and a 70,

Your grandson may object now, but he will hate you in 16 years if you get rid of that beautiful Blazer !
What would you rather have - $5000 or lots of time with that grandson ( teaching him about good old trucks)
and then see the look on his face when you give him the keys and the title?

Dave- you may get a few more responses if you post a link to this thread on the 67-72 parts board. That is where most guys look for a truck. (If you need me to post it for you I will) Also this board sometimes isn't the best place to sell a complete nice truck or blazer because the guys here always have so many projects, or are working on restoring one of their own. Maybe try posting an ad in the autotrader, or your local newspaper. I think a for sale sign in that beautiful blazer on a busy road would sell it in a heartbeat!! Good luck!

Don't sell it! You know you'll regret it.

I sold an 85 silverado pickup that I restored and I have regretted it ever since. It gave a few problems that made me so mad I bought a new truck and sold the one I had worked so hard on. I would think that blazer would be something a grandson would be proud to have from his grandfather.

BTW - If I was a person with money I would be up there buying it. Very Sharp blazer.

My Blazer was originally my Grandfather's - It would be the very last vehicle I would sell! Of course I've wanted it since I was 8 years old too.

:) Thanks for the tips folks! I'm really in no hurry to see her go so I don't think I'll advertise anymore. It's cheap to insure and license plates are cheap too. Doesn't really take up much room.
