Curious what you guys think about how far I need to drop my 78 suburban
Planned on 18s on front and 20s in the rear?
is 2.5 in spindles and 2 in springs in front and a flip kit in the rear enough?
any pictures/?

That's probably a great drop. Or you should just sell me the suburban. Haha

cool burb. Drop sounds about right but 20"s all around look better on a square. Just my $.02

My truck has 3 in spindles and drop springs up front. In back, you probably won't be able to flip the axle and still have any clearance to the frame. In my case, I needed to replace the rear leafs anyway because some of them were cracked. I upgraded to a higher load bigger rear spring pack so that when I did flip the axle there was some clearance once I removed the factory bump stops. It still ended up being a little too low in the back so I used Rancho lift shackles to raise it back up a little. Also if you do flip the axles I would highly recommend welding on new spring perches and not using relocation brackets, a much stronger setup.

What size are your tires? And whose 3" spindles and springs did you use? Thanks

My tires are 29" tall and all of my suspension stuff is DJM, I used their 3" spindles and I think 2" drop springs. My truck is a big block so it is probably a little lower in front than a small block truck would be. On big dips the front tires rub the inner fenders sometimes but other then that I don't have any issues.

Thanks for the info. Mine is a small block and I'll be running 225's up front, so that should eliminate the rubbing issue you mentioned.
