Question On Tilt Steering Column
2 Attachment(s)
I would like some help on a tilt wheel steering column I just bought. Attached are pics of the column where I think the neutral safety/back up light switch goes. I was wondering how the switch attaches. Some pics I see show what I have and others show the switch being held on by a couple of screws. Am I missing something. I can't look at my existing column because it is in the body shop right now. My truck is a 86 C10 and this column is supposedly off from an 86. Want to make sure what I have will work be for I send the column for rebuilding. Thanks as always

Re: Question On Tilt Steering Column
There are two spring clips that go where the N/S switch goes. The clips snap into place and the N/S switch screws to them. You will have to use the ones from your non tilt column for your new column.

Re: Question On Tilt Steering Column
Thanks for the pics and the info. Titomars, would you say that is correct for a 86 column? It will all be clearer I'm sure when I pull out the existing column. Thank you

Re: Question On Tilt Steering Column
Your 86 will not use spring type clips and screws. The neutral safety switch snaps in. You can use the one off your existing column

Re: Question On Tilt Steering Column
Please read my above post. I rebuild A LOT of tilt columns so I am sure it is correct!

Re: Question On Tilt Steering Column
I'm sure you are correct. I got into my 1986 Shop Manual and found a drawing in the back of the Chassis Electrical section that shows just the 2 holes on the side where it might snap in. Thanks a lot for the info.
