Universal hoses

Has anybody ever used these hoses? Are they any good? Can I make one end 1 1/2 and the other 1 3/4. they don't show how this is done.

I haven't used them personally, but those I know that have said the ends occasionally slip and leak. They are likened to cheap headers; they need constant tightening maintenance.
