Shock question

Question about how you get the little extra piece out of the bottom shock bushing (see pic)?

Attachment 1430643

I'm using porterbuilt a-arms and shock mount up front, and no limit shock mount and panhard etc in the rear. Both companies use different shock suppliers for their set-ups so I had to dig around and find someone who made front and back shocks that would fit mine.

The fronts to fit the porterbuilt front are from a toyota pickup and the plain Excel-G KYB's came without the thingy through the bottom shock mount. But I ordered the KYB gas-a-just for the same model and they came with this thing through the mount (which I don't need).

Here is a picture of the Excel-G without the thingy:

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Shock question

I've pushed them in and out with a big vise.
It's not the easiest,... but it can be done.
(kinda like pushing u-joints around)
A press would be even better.

Thanks. I was hoping for something easy because I don't have a press but good to know I can press them out.
