K-10 exhaust ?
Need to redo the exhaust on my K10 & looking for suggestions. It has 2" ram horns on it, I either want to go to the speedway motors 2.5" manifolds and a Y-pipe to 3" single or headers with duals and run them outside the frame.

Re: K-10 exhaust ?
2.5" into a single 3" sounds self-defeating. You'll get much better results with 2.5" pipes. Running 3" is not so easy to do compared to 2.5 and I believe in letting both banks empty themselves. I just go to the exhaust shop and tell them what I want

Re: K-10 exhaust ?
Except for a recent report here that the Heartthrob dual exhaust kit offered by LMC wasn't properly manufactured, I've heard nothing but good things about their dual kits. I put one on over 12 years ago.

Re: K-10 exhaust ?
I would NOT put the pipes outside the frame. I would do 2 1/2" the whole way with the 'vette manifolds. And that IS what I did on the Jimmy. I think the balance/y pipe is a good idea. Run the exhaust over the axles and out the side at a 45 degree angle.
4x4 should never run pipes straight out the back. If you have to rock it or drive it backwards in mud/water it packs in the exhuast. 90 degree bend too restrictive IMO, so the the 45 is the anser. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: K-10 exhaust ?
90 degrees works just fine. I like the look better and you will not see a difference in performance. It's more a matter of personal preference. I agree about straight out the back on 4wds...that actually get down and dirty

Re: K-10 exhaust ?
I used the Hearthrob kit and it worked great with the 2 1/2 ramshorn

Re: K-10 exhaust ?
I also used Heartthrob dual kit on my 72 K10 with stock ramhorns. Perfect fit. Bought from autoanything.com for under $200
