1968 C10 with inline 6 question
If i were to put a souped up 454 in the truck, is the front end able to hold up?

Re: 1968 C10 with inline 6 question
I'm pretty sure that from the factory the trucks with the V-8s had heavier springs. . .
Sure somebody else will be able to give specific info. You know, that 6 cylinder is an awful good engine. . . Does yours run currently? |
Re: 1968 C10 with inline 6 question
yes it does, the damn three on the tree and transmission constantly giving me issues.

Re: 1968 C10 with inline 6 question
I've been lucky so far with my 3 speed on the column, but I have always heard about the problems that seem to be frequent enough.
Really do like my 250, not a "hot rod," though. Just a tame, half ton farm truck. |
Re: 1968 C10 with inline 6 question
Just put big block springs up front... It'll "hold up" just fine...

Re: 1968 C10 with inline 6 question
The big difference between the trucks with 250, 350 or 396 was the spring I think. They will be broken down probably into six[6] areas. Six cyl then six with air. Small block then small block with air then big block and big block with air, but there may be HD spring thrown into each one of those categories.

Re: 1968 C10 with inline 6 question
Change the springs to HD type and you'll be fine.
I'd keep the lil 6 in storage invade you ever want to go back. |
Re: 1968 C10 with inline 6 question
I just put a 400 small block in an original six truck with no issues. Spid states "HD" springs but I'm willing to bet they are all equal after 40 years. The springs that is.
