Best way to turn my 4" lift into a 6" lift?
 

I have a 1984 k10 with a 4" lift on 33s. I would like to clear 37s but I've heard you start having to do driveshafts and new brake lines after 6" of lift. I have 4" springs up front and what looks like a 3" block and an add a leaf in the back. Trying to avoid body lifts if I can. Thx

body lift a couple inches i just had to custom lift my body to fit my 69 body on my 84 frame and i got a couple inches with out screwing up the brake lines or steering here are some pics the one with the bracket is of the front mount im making you can see it is about 2 inches up from factory .

both of these are correct statements :D

There is nothing wrong with longer shackles as long as you don't let your caster angle get out of hand. Trust me. I know. Some pinion shims and removal of the front blocks and I don't need a parking lot to turn around :D

for the front, i would bypass zero's, body lifts, etc & just swap out the 4" springs for some sixes, their not that expensive.
the rear-owners choice, but a 4" shackle flip with a small block would be reasonably cheap, not a bad ride & still have some decent load capacity

The best thing to do is new front springs for 6" lift. for the rear shackle flip from ORD with their shackles will give you 6" in the rear. On my 84 I did the above with 2" body lift and fit 38 swamper.

I've got a 6" lift front and rear springs for sale. It came off my 72k20. I don't know if it will fit your 84.

Fronts are too short....Dunno why everyone is raggin on zero rates or longer shackles. If there was issues with either than all the off road companies wouldn't make them. Zero rate is nice cause it will give you an inch, it's bolted to the spring pack so won't get tossed like a block and if needed moves your axle forward away from the fender/firewall. Longer shackles keeps the spring eye from hitting the frame, and allows the spring/shackle to actually move like it's supposed to.

i got nuthing wrong with zero's or longer shackles ( i have long shackles on my crew) just figured if he's asking for recommendations, a spring swap is prob the easiest for a person to do

My preferred method is 4" front springs with a zero rate and a 6" shackle up front. This gave me the best ride and drivability.
This kept my front tire away from the firewall so I could fit a bigger tire with less lift. Lengthened my front driveshaft and kept the angles in check. It's almost exactly what the OP asked for.
Rear I used a shackle flip with 56" rear springs and a 7" shackle. I ran 39s on this for a long time with small trimming. Now I run 42s without the zero rate and more trimming.

Buy 6" lift springs up front and same in back or shackle-flip. Sell what you have. Longer shackles only yield 1/2 the lift per inch added to stock length. I've never seen the point of them. Just lower the mounting point. Stick with 8" wheels and cross your fingers... meaning watch articulation. You won't have room for full cycle in certain situations
