Specialty Retail company truck,,, maybe..

OK guys, gonna try this again, but we all know how it usually ends up. Bought this 68 (I know, has a 69 - 70 front clip) a couple of weeks back. That is a positive, have had it two weeks already. Have a good friend, fellow truck guy and neighbor that is a member on here that talked me into making it my personal shop truck. I am going to use as many spare parts from other trucks/builds we have had around the shop,, very low buck build. It needs tires badly, but I will find some soon. Anyways, small block, TH350, power steering and manual drums. Brakes are shot, new master cylinder helped, but they still need a lot of attention. So, here we go,, again...

Spray that door to match, get some logos and roll it!

That damn maroon door just is a kick in the head. Lucky for me, my company mixes paint so I may be able to come up with something. Was hoping for some Krylon or Duplicolor aerosol but I cannot find metallic colors in spray bombs.

Got the purple,, yes I said PURPLE, window tint removed. Also swapped air cleaners out of the parts pile to solve the carb linkage clearance issue. Small steps.

It looks like a good old truck, hopefully you can talk yourself into keeping this one.
I can see some rust damage on the firewall in the limited pictures, is there a lot of hidden rust in the usual places?

Firewall is the worst of it. Some above the windshield, but I do not plan on swapping the glass out so i am going to let it be. I may patch at/cobble on the firewall issues. It is just an old, cheap ass shop truck, so I am not going for much.

For sure man a couple hours here and there spread out over time you could really make a dent in some of the smaller issues.
I'm guessing mechanical reliability is a higher priority more than anything else since it's going to be a parts runner.

Yes, Brakes are the first issue. I am fond of stopping in the appointed areas I expect to be in.

Quick and easy job this afternoon. Got the belt put on the power steering pump and it actually works. Looking at ordering complete brake overhaul Tuesday.

Sweet, it's always a nice surprise when things work without a fight.
Are you going to convert it to 5-lug disk?

Nah, I grew up driving drum brakes and am cool with them. Kind of the charm of these old trucks.
