AC evaporator core
Well I did a search because I am sure there is some info on here about this, but did not have any luck. I was getting ready to recharge my a/c in my 1990 Suburban and discovered that my evaporator core is leaking. My question is how big of a pain is it to change this? Does the heater box have to come out or can it all be pulled from under the hood? Also has anyone tried to use the alumiweld brazing rods to repair one of these?

Re: AC evaporator core
I am 90% sure the evap. can be removed by pulling the drivers side half of the a/c box. Heater box can be left in place. All done from under the hood. As far as reparing it I think you should make that call after you see where the leak is.

Re: AC evaporator core
I think the heater core is the hard one you are describing...and it is a difficult thing to gain access to. Heater core is in the dash within the heater box and all needs to come out.
AC is more in the engine area. Hardest part is getting the bottom bolt loose near fender....if I recall correctly. |
